Hey man, love your work ! I'm from brazil, and i started taking some photos, and i wanna know if you can live by taking urban photos, you know ?

stevesweatpants Answer:

Thank you man! I really appreciate the feedback, it means a lot. Taking pictures in Brazil must be awesome. I’m kinda broke right now, (shooting film is expensive breh) but I would love to shoot over there one day.

But that’s a good question. I’ll speak from personal experience and say, that it’s an investment. I strongly believe that the more time and effort you put into your street photography, the more beneficial it will be. It doesn’t really matter where your from, or where your taking photos. It’s about the content, and the emotion. Before you know it, you’ll have a bunch of photos to choose from. Host a gallery, sell prints, the choice is yours.

P.S. Sorry for the long ass reply, I just took a power nap. I’m feeling chatty.

tenzin-sonam asked:

Hey man, amazing shots! What kinda film camera do you use and what kind of film?

stevesweatpants Answer:

Thank you dude! I appreciate the comment. So I’m using a canon elan 7E right now, that a friend let me borrow. I shoot with a 40mm 2.8 pancake lens. I like to use kodak portra 400 the most because it makes your reds look awsum, and the tones are usually wavy.

cburke asked:

I think it's awesome that you shoot film still. Do you develop your own as well?

stevesweatpants Answer:

thanks! really appreciate the feedback. unfortunately, I fucking suck at developing film. I need to learn, developing film in nyc is expensive.
